Yield: 12 servings
Ingredients
10 cups cubed white bread such as Pepperidge Farm, about 16 (1-ounce) slices
Cooking spray
8 ounces 1/3-less-fat cream cheese, softened
8 large eggs
1 1/2 cups 2 percent milk
2/3 cup half-and-half
1 cup maple syrup, divided
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Fresh seasonal fruit for serving
1. Place bread cubes in a 9-by-13-inch baking pan coated with cooking spray. Beat cream cheese with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Mix in milk, half-and-half, 1/2 cup maple syrup until mixture is smooth. Pour mixture over the bread. Cover and refrigerate pan overnight.
2. Remove bread mixture from refrigerator and let sit for 30 minutes on the counter. While pan is sitting, heat oven to 375F. Bake 50 minutes or until set. Serve with fresh fruit and additional maple syrup.
