Saint Lawrence County Arts Festival Artists' Studio Tour at Maple Run Emporium
Maple Run Emporium will host two artists for the SLC Arts Festival Artists’ Studio Tour on Saturday, October 1, 2022. Come visit with the artists, see displays of their work, watch a weaving demonstration, and have fun celebrating this wonderful festival and these fantastic artists!
Jan Close, an award-winning wood turner, creates masterpieces in his Winthrop, NY, workshop. He is best known for his salad bowls made from local sustainable woods. Jan’s skills with wood allow him to create stunning pieces of functional art including rolling pins, salt and pepper mills, and vases. His extraordinary artistic creations range from Christmas ornaments, hollow forms, and objets d’art to chess sets and urns. Jan was the first guest artist for Summer Festival at Maple Run Emporium in 2011 and has displayed his work in the shop for 11 years.
Donna Jadlos of The Adirondack Basket Tree in Winthrop, NY, has been weaving for 34 years and will be demonstrating her techniques by creating a basket during the Studio Tour event. She will also have a display of her beautiful handwoven artistry consisting of market baskets, totes, mail holders, and picnic baskets. Her skills include dying reeds and painting iconic designs on basket bands. Donna has been a Guest Artist in the shop for Summer Festival and her work has been showcased in the Artisan Gallery at Maple Run Emporium for eight years.
