“Pollen” – a collection of paintings by Esthela Calderón – opened June 18, 2019, at Maple Run Emporium and will be on display throughout the summer. The artist paints on water – a technique called marmoleado or marbling. Ms. Calderon paints quickly on a liquid surface that is then absorbed by a sheet of paper. This requires great speed. She captures the vital roundness, different colors and textures that travel attached to the bodies, faces, and legs of bees.
